Irritable bowel

Catégorie(s):

The diagnosis of irritable bowel syndrome covers a wide range of symptoms: flatulence, colic, variable stools (sometimes constipation, sometimes diarrhea, often a mixture of both), slow or difficult digestion.

When radiological and biological examinations are normal, doctors are satisfied with the diagnosis of irritable bowel.

In the vast majority of cases, irritable bowel is caused by lactose intolerance, a very common condition whose symptoms, absent in adolescents and young adults, increase with age.

Although tests can be done to diagnosis the condition, eliminating lactose for three to four weeks is much easier. Symptoms will improve significantly, especially if lactose is completely avoided during this time.

Taking probiotics can help reconstitute the intestinal flora.
